The LSU School of Music offers a comprehensive music program with nearly 500 majors. It has over 50 faculty, 20 professional staff and 90 graduate assistants. It sponsors nearly 300 recitals, concerts, operas, and lectures each academic year. Degrees offered include the PhD (with concentrations in composition, music education, musicology and music theory), DMA (concentrations in choral conducting, performance, wind conducting), MM, BM, BME and BA (Liberal Arts).

Open Positions: 

The School of Music at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, invites applications for Assistant Dean (AD) for Recruiting and Diversity to begin Spring 2017. This appointment will be full-time (twelve month), and will contribute to the College of Music and Dramatic Arts’ mission to offer a comprehensive music program. This position will consist of Recruiting (30%), Managing Diversity efforts (30%), Collaboration with faculty/staff and external partners (30%), Planning/Implementing programs (10%). Travel will be required as well as evening and weekend hours for some events.

The School of Music at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Trombone to begin Fall 2017. This appointment will be full-time (nine month), and will contribute to the College of Music and Dramatic Arts’ mission to offer a comprehensive music program. This position will teach at both undergraduate and graduate level (50%), and contribute to the Winds and Percussion Area research (25%), outreach and service efforts (25%).
