    LSU CMDA faculty, alumni, and students have appeared in orchestras across the country, in over 40 feature films and television series, sung at the New York Metropolitan Opera, appeared in over 20 Broadway and regional theatres, been awarded Fulbright Fellowships, have won Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy awards and so much more.

    and media personality Christopher O’Riley as the James M. Syler Distinguished Visiting Artist.

    Music Education professor Sarah Bartolome was a Fulbright Scholar in Vilnius, Lithuania, researching and working with children’s choirs.

    Theatre students Josh Allred and Isaac Robinson attended “3 Million Stories: Understanding the Lives and Careers of America’s Arts Graduates.” This is the first national conference on the state of arts training and careers in the United States.

    The New York Times praised music doctoral opera student Penny Shumate’s November 2012 performance as the soprano soloist in the Messiah for her Avery Fisher Hall debut at Lincoln Center.

    Undergraduate piano student Oscar Rossignoli (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) was invited to the Steans Music Institute Jazz Showcase at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.

    Cello professor Dennis Parker, internationally acclaimed cellist and teacher, earned an Awards to Louisiana Artists and Scholars (ATLAS) Grant from the state of Louisiana to record and publish his transcriptions of works by Mozart for cello and performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in May 2013.
