Why I Give
After having taught at the LSU School of Music for many years, I thought that by creating a flute scholarship in my name, I would perpetuate my legacy while helping the LSU School of Music. After donating a small amount with every paycheck, I was able to endow the scholarship. Now the proceeds of that account goes to current students, which is especially appreciated in this time of need. Some of my former students have even started contributing to the fund as well. I have enjoyed my years at LSU so much and this seems like a great way to give back. – Dr. Katherine Kemler, Charles and Mary Barre Alumni Professor of Flute
When you make a gift of a scholarship, this action goes far beyond providing basic but essential financial support for students – rather, it transforms their lives! These gifts make a significant difference in the life of the CMDA, enabling us to recruit top candidates to our music and theatre programs, and recognize artistic excellence. Named scholarships (for undergraduates) and fellowships (for graduate students) are either endowed, to provide permanent support, or are expendable, to offer immediate aid. They may be named for the donor or in honor or memory of someone.
Your donation helps LSU College of Music & Dramatic Arts students to better their skills and to share and spread their talent to audiences all over the world, where their lives are immeasurably enriched. There is no better way to instill confidence in a student than receiving a scholarship from the CMDA.
