Student Leadership Council Application Form
The CMDA Student Leadership Council (SLC), consisting of undergraduate and graduate students from the College, will serve as a catalyst for communication and collaboration among students, faculty, staff and administration. Roles of the SLC will include:
- serve on the Performing Arts Series Committee
- facilitate collaboration with other student organizations
- advise faculty and administration of student concerns and issues
- promote activities within the CMDA
- advocate for the performing arts on campus, and in the community
- connect with the LSU student community at large
The SLC will meet with the Dean and Executive Associate Dean at least once each semester. Students serving on the SLC will receive guidance and mentorship on issues such as leadership, arts advocacy, and social and civic engagement.
Membership: The SLC will comprise full-time students in the College of Music & Dramatic Arts.
Term: Students will serve for one academic year. Students can be chosen to serve consecutive years.
Selection Process: Students will apply for the SLC through an application process, which will include a nomination from a CMDA faculty member. The CMDA Advisory Committee will select a minimum of four (4) committee members, with equal representation from Theatre and Music and from graduate and undergraduate students.
Performing Arts Series Committee: The Performing Arts Series Committee shall be responsible for developing and maintaining a university fine arts performance series that is suitable for a comprehensive, flagship institution such as LSU. In considering prospective visiting artists and scholars, the Committee will solicit recommendations from a broad constituency. The Committee will negotiate and administer contracts with artists/scholars and/or their agents according to university regulations and procedures. The Committee will prepare and publicize annual season brochures relative to the ongoing Series. THE PAS Committee will be comprised of the CMDA SLC, the Dean and Executive Associate Dean of CMDA, and the Director of the Student Union.
